Finding the right look before picking up the camera
Drinkerie asked me to create an image pool for their all new range of flavoured drink powders, small sachets made to give water a little more taste and beautifull colours.
But before we started actually shooting, we sat down for a workshop. We talked about what Drinkerie should actually look and feel like in their pictures. We talked about the light, colours, locations, people and the overall mood. The idea wasn’t just to prepare this one shoot, but to establish a look that could carry over into future productions as well.
A retro kitchen, good light and some tasty drinks
For the shoot itself, we went with a retro kitchen and built the images around people actually using the product. Drinking, talking, laughing — rather than holding a sachet into the camera.
The kitchen gave us a lot to work with visually. Together with carefully shaped light and the colour palette we had defined beforehand, it created a warm, slightly nostalgic look without turning the shoot into a period piece.
We shot a mix of wider scenes, portraits, details and product moments to give Drinkerie enough variety for different formats and applications.
I also handled the retouching, which was particularly important on this project. It meant I could take the look we had developed in the workshop all the way from the first conversation through the shoot to the final images.
