Originally from Munich, Ulrich started his career in communications and marketing, working with companies and agencies before making photography his profession. This experience still influences his approach to commercial projects today: understanding not only how to create a strong image, but how that image needs to work within a campaign and its wider creative context.
Sports have been part of his life long before photography. As a former competitive ice hockey player, he brings an instinctive understanding of movement, performance and the people in front of his camera. His work naturally moves between commercial sports photography, lifestyle and documentary — from precisely planned campaigns to events and the moments surrounding the action.
